The board games of the courtyard, drawn in wood, chalk and cloth.
In review on Google Play, coming to the App Store.
Remember the board games of the courtyard, played with tamarind seeds and cowrie shells on lines drawn in chalk? Imli brings five of them back, drawn like real wood, chalk and cloth, with a fair computer to play against and a new puzzle every day.
Sow seeds round the pits in Pallanguzhi, send three tigers after fifteen goats in Aadu Puli Attam, build mills in Navakankari, race your pawns home on the cowrie throws of Ashta Chamma, and partner up for the royal race of Pachisi. Each game teaches itself on its own board in a couple of minutes, with regional rules there as options when your family plays it a little differently.
Play the computer at three levels or pass the phone round two to four players. There are no accounts and no connection needed, and the cowries are dice, so there is never any money at stake.

What is in it
Pallanguzhi, the South Indian mancala of sowing seeds round the pits; Aadu Puli Attam, three tigers against fifteen goats; Navakankari, the Nine Men's Morris of mills; Ashta Chamma, a cowrie race on a cross-marked board; and Pachisi, the royal race round the cross, partners against partners.
Every game has a short interactive tutorial on its real board. Tap the glowing piece, watch what happens, and you know the rules in about two minutes.
Easy plays like a beginner, Medium like a good family player, Hard plays its best. Beat each level to light a clay lamp, fifteen across the whole collection.
Pass the phone round the family: two to four players, any mix of people and computer. The classic boards are free, and everything works offline.
One daily challenge, the same for everyone: trap the tigers, win in a set number of moves, or find the sowing that captures the most. Keep your streak and share a result that gives nothing away.
Questions
Imli is in development and coming soon to Google Play and the App Store, free to download. Follow the studio on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook or Telegram to hear the day it launches.
It is free. An ad appears only as you leave a finished match, never during play, a tutorial or the daily challenge, and a hint plays a short video. Two one-time purchases are optional: Remove Ads takes away every ad and makes hints free, and Royal themes adds more board looks. The classic boards are always free.
No. Imli has no wagering and no money or prizes of any kind. The cowrie throws are the game's dice, nothing for sale changes a throw, and no coin or token has cash value.
No. There is no sign-in and no cloud save. Your matches, stats, streaks and settings stay on your phone, and the game plays offline.
